 | ALICE Partners win award for innovation!Alice 07.06.2005 Four of the ALICE project NREN partners have won an award for digital innovation. The project founded by RedIRIS (Spain), REUNA (Chile), RETINA (Argentina), and RNP (Brazil), is one of 15 initiatives selected by FRIDA (Regional Fund for the Digital Innovation in Latin America and the Caribbean). The project “Security in the communications: a Quality Platform in the Service of Electronic mail” intends to improve the quality of email for the Latin American academic community. With the support of the FRIDA program the project will run until June 2006. For academics and researchers email is one of the most important tools for information exchange. However lurking dangers like viruses, hoaxes and spam mean email is not as secure or trusted as it could be. This project’s central objective is to define a platform of collaboration that allows for improvements in the quality of email. The creation of a knowledge-sharing forum will be translated into the development of tools and strategies to improve the quality of electronic communication.
