Articulation of metropolitan networks of Recife and Manaus

Redecomep will implant high-speed network in all capitals

The auditorium of the Regional Center of Nuclear Sciences of the University City of Recife received, on June 06, the minister of Science and Technology, Eduardo Campos, for the inauguration ceremony of Recife Metropolitan Network, which will be implemented by Redecomep (Education and Research Community Networks).

On the occasion, a Protocol of Intentions was signed between the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT) and the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), the Rural Federal University of Pernambuco (UFRPE), the University Pernambuco (UPE), the Center of Strategic Technology of the Northeast (Cetene), the Technological Institute of the State of Pernambuco (Itep) and the Municipal Information Technology Company (Emprel). The ceremony inaugurated the Administrative Committee of the Recife Metropolitan Network, formed by members of the Chesf, César, Porto Digital and MCT, and included presentations by the National Network of Teaching and Research (RNP) and of Redecomep, an initiative directed toward the implantation of high velocity networks in the 27 Brazilian capitals served by the RNP.

On June 30, it was the turn of North Regional Conference of Science, Technology and Innovation, in Manaus, to receive the executive secretary of the MCT, Luís Fernandes to sign the Protocol of Intentions for the creation of the Teaching and Research Network of Amazonas (Repam), an agreement between the RNP, the Secretary of Science and Technology for the State of Amazonas and teaching and research institutions of the area.

The initiative proposes the implementation of the metropolitan network infrastructure, including optic fiber cabling (of their own or through assignment of rights) and the acquisition of equipment for the logic network. The strategy of Redecomep is to stimulate the formation of joint ventures for the administrations of the networks.
