![]() | Public Notice announces the selection of projects of scientific cooperation between Brazil and the United StatesCNPq - Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (National Council of Scientific and Technological Research) - and National Science Foundation (NSF) are once again supporting research projects of international cooperation in specific areas of Computer Science. On the third Public Notice of this sort, CNPq announces it will be receiving cooperative scientific-technological projects until November 30, aiming at promoting advances by means of joint efforts of Brazilian and North American researchers. The projects selected for this enterprise must include researchers working for institutions in both countries, as well as bring benefits to the two nations. Proposals in all the research areas usually supported and encouraged by the Multi-institutional Thematic Program on Computer Science (ProTeM-CC) will be accepted, with an emphasis on research and cooperative development in the areas covered by the Information Society Program - advanced networks, middleware, e-commerce, applied information and communication technology. The submitted projects must contain the same range and duration, but independent activities and budgets according to the distribution of tasks between Brazilian and North American researchers. The attributions of the participants in each country must also be described. NSF will be in charge only of North American researchers, while CNPq will manage the costs of Brazilian researchers. Project selection, on the Brazilian side, will obey the criteria established in ProTeM-CC's program. NSF, in its turn, will select and evaluate the proposals according to the criteria described in the Grant Proposal Guide (GPG) (NSF 98-2), and the proposals will be processed by the Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE).
