Socinfo presents the Green Book to South American presidents

During the meeting of South American presidents that took place on August 31st and September 1st, the Brazilian government gave out a condensed version of the Green Book in Spanish to the leaders of these nations. The goal was to present the Brazilian program for Information Technology, furthering greater integration among neighboring South American nations.

The Green Book contains the goals for the deployment of the Information Society Program in Brazil and was compiled by a group of specialists in the field, with the collaboration of some three hundred people. A preliminary version of this document was delivered to the Minister of Science and Technology, Ronaldo Sardenberg on August 9th.

During the Meeting of South American Presidents, the Brazilian government created a fund to promote scientific and technological activities aimed at disseminating knowledge and technology among communities in South American nations.

The final version of the Green Book will be released for public reference soon, thus enabling ample discussion within the society until a conclusive document is drawn up that will then be called the White Book.
