NTP

NTP servers permit their clients to synchronize their computer clocks, as well as those of other kinds of network equipment, from a standard time reference accepted worldwide, known as UTC (Universal Time Coordinated).

In July 2000, RNP’s Security Incident Response Team (CAIS) implanted a Network Time Protocol (NTP) service. RNP’s NTP stratum 1 server is directly connected to a reference clock, a high precision mechanism. The reference clock used is a GPS (Global Positioning System) receiver.

An NTP server hierarchy was established with the purpose of distributing the processing load, ensuring a stabler and more reliable service to the final user.

To know more details about NTP technology and the service offered by RNP navigate on the pages indicated beside. There you will find information about the hierarchy of NTP servers connected to RNP’s server and how to access them.
