How to join Br6Bone

The Brazilian 6Bone will follow the same requisites as 6Bone/IETF, according to what is specified in RFC 2772 - "6Bone Routing Practices." Requests will only be accepted from institutions such as research institutes, companies, universities, etc. Requests from individuals will not be accepted.

Requisites to Get an IPv6 Address

  • Already having a local IPv6 network for tests.
  • For institutions to join the Br6Bone, the pre-requisites are the same as those used in the worldwide 6Bone; basically following the recommendations of RFC 2772 - 6Bone Routing Practice, besides the agreement of the institutions to make available and publish information about research or tests related to the project.

Implanting IPv6/IPv4 tunnels

  • An official IPv6 address will be given to the institution and another to the tunnel.
  • The allocation will be sent by e-mail to the technical contact specified in the membership form. This person will also be responsible for the tunnel setup procedures.

NOTE: Tunnels which are inactive for over 2 months can be undone without any previous warning to the institution that requested them. The addresses previously allocated to this institution will also be taken away.

After the setup procedures, we strongly recommend that the new IPv6 site be registered with the 6Bone Registry. Br6Bone will also maintain a local record made available to the allocations via Web interface.
