| The CAIS – Security Incident Response Team – acts in the detection, solution and prevention of security incidents in the Brazilian academic network, besides creating, promoting and spreading security practices in networks.

- Provide incident response services
- Coordinating with already existing security task forces
- Promoting the creation of new security groups nationwide
- Disseminating information on network security
- Publicizing recommendations and incident notes
- Testing and recommending security tools
- Recommending policies for RNP
- Recommending policies for the PoPs
- Recommending policies for the RNP backbone
