62nd Annual Meeting of the SBPC: 2nd registration period extended

The event will take place in Natal (Rio Grande do Norte) July 25-30, 2010

The second deadline to register for the 62nd Annual Meeting of the SBPC was extended to 4PM on April 5th. Those registering by this date and paying their registration fee will have until April 7th to submit a summary of their work. The event, promoted by the Sociedade Brasileira para o Progresso da Ciência (SBPC)(Brazilian Society for the Progress of Science), will be held from July 25th to the 30th at the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN), in Natal (Rio Grande do Norte), and will have five poster sessions to present papers. More than 2,500 accepted papers are expected.

Summaries of scientific work form any area of knowledge may be submitted, by students or professors at the university level, researchers or professionals; and work by teachers in elementary, high school or technical education which deal with teaching-learning experiences or practices. Registration and summary submission regulations can be found at the event website: www.sbpcnet.org.br/natal/home/.

Concerning the event, the Annual Meeting of the SBPC is one of the largest scientific events in Brazil. Held since 1948, with the participation of authorities, managers of the national science and technology system (C&T) and representatives of scientific societies, the event is an important means of publicizing advances of science in the different areas of knowledge and a forum of debates for government policies in C&T.

In addition to the scientific program (conferences, symposiums, round tables, etc.), several parallel events will be held, like the SBPC Jovem (program aimed at elementary and high school students and for children and young people in general), ExpoT&C (a science and technology exhibit), and SBPC Cultural (regional artistic activities).

The event brings together thousands of people including scientists, teachers and students from all levels, and professionals from several areas. In all previous SBPC meetings, more than 10,000 people have participated in some part of the activities.
